Happy Onam

It is not about Sadhya!

Happy Onam to all!

I am getting a lot of questions about my Onam Sadhya. Let me set the record right.

I am one of those ‘foodies’ who have realized it is a stupid addiction, not a healthy one. As such, food is still important but less of an addiction. Age contributed to it, and some health reasons, too — disclosure!

I was in Mumbai to facilitate our popular Leader As Coach program for senior leaders. At the airport, I met an old colleague & friend who was suddenly very choosy about his food choices. Delayed flights, our (unplanned) early arrivals at the airport, and his young daughter with culinary interests to explore… gave some indications he is also as choosy about his food!

I reached from Mumbai with a sore throat, cold, and fever! Not the right conditions to welcome emperor Mahabali!

Training from 12:30 PM to 5:30 PM on August 28th, 29th & 30th ensured I ended up ‘working’ during the 3 holy days!

This was the learning, while we are celebrating #Chandrayan3 (as part of simulation!)

Time to shrug off ‘work is worship?

(Mom asking, ‘When will you stop getting trained?’). I missed a trip to Kerala to celebrate Onam there too.

We work hard on holidays… suddenly come to haunt me! We worked hard on Raksha Bandhan Day too :)

One common question that came through was how was your Onam Sadhya?

Some are more keen because of our last year's experience. We ordered an elaborate sadhya, and that did not get delivered at all :)

Daane daane mein likha hai khane wale ka naam!

At home, the family is mourning. So, no celebration.

So, I ended up with this dabba delivered at the office and had a quick lunch during the break!

One does not live sadhya alone!

PS: The day after…. on 31 Aug. The Universe has responded… I got this quote attributed to my Guru from a mallu (!) friend: Master’s Voice:

“Transform work into worship and worship into wisdom.”
