“Have you helped someone this week?”
I received a mail, in fact, more than one mail, with this headline:
“Have you helped someone this week?”

1988 June, the first week, I made my second trip to The Ashram. The earlier trip was for a personal reason, to that extend with a selfish-motive. Also to ‘check out’, which was ‘selfish’ and self-serving. At that stage in my life, not Vanaprastha or Sanyasa, but very much a brahmachari, I guess it was natural. That was my state of consciousness. Not a true Brahmachari.
Brahmacharya means “conduct consistent with Brahman”.
Of course, I did not have the wisdom then. Not sure if I have it now either :)
One message that hit me during the second visit to the Ashram was a quote from the Vedas, ‘Paropakararthamm idam shareeram’. The purpose of this body is to serve others. The message hit me and has stayed the anchor for inspiration since then.

I did not make a dramatic shift in my service-quotient. Instead, I stayed on the worldly pursuit of educational degrees, work, marriage, wealth, et al. This remained an inspiration within, and has perhaps grown a bit within. Blame it on age, beyond brahmacharya and grihastha, I guess.
Somewhere I was able to bring in an element of #ServantLeadership during my 21 years with the corporate.
How much of your leadership is truly in the service of others?
The journey took me to coaching, pure and classical. Today when I coach leaders and mentor coaches, I know that sapling is growing within me, in the service of these leaders, ‘professionally’!
And we don’t ‘help’ you. We work with you, partner with you, to move from the current state to a more resourceful state, #BeRegal! In the true spirit of #coaching the #iCFway.
Covid-19 gives us a good reason to help others. As always, when we help others we will be helping ourselves. Anything to prevent the spread of covid-19 is key to fighting the pandemic.
Have you coached someone this week?”
