IPL – reflections on Leadership/cricket

This perhaps summarises the journey of Delhi team so far. Delhi with Shreyas, Pant, Prithvi is the classical ‘millennial’ bunch. So the leaders of the future.
Here is an example:
Shaw steals Powerplay – ‘Prithvi Shaw has been dismissed 10 times inside the Powerplay this season, the highest for any batsman, but there is a good reason for it: he has stuck to his role selflessly.’
- Leadership was always being Selfless.
Saw the part where there was confusion regarding the run out. Captain Shreyas almost seemed to concur with umpire to let go. Pant steps in, insists the batsman was out and they get it. That is being assertive.
This youth brigade will take on #Chennai. Chennai is the “present- past” of our cricket – with MSD, Raina, Jadeja, Harbhajan, Bravo, Vijay, etc. just as Delhi is the “present-future”.
They had a bad day at office on Tuesday, Vs Mumbai. They are capable of going right up to the podium. But it is not going to be easy, against charged up Delhi, and then mighty Mumbai.
Best 4 teams got into the playoffs. Hyderabad depended on openers too much. Did not plan well.
- A mistake all corporates make, depending too much on a few ‘stars’.
They made mistake in their match against Delhi, a gamble that did not payoff (17th over).
Over to present-future vs present-past.
