Leadership, Legacy

All leaders are looking at their legacy, but ignoring important elements
Working with leaders for coaching, coach training and/or healing, legacy comes up as something very important for them. It may be explained in different ways, but at the core it is ‘what will I be known for after I am gone’.
Will you be relevant three generations later. Will your own great grandchildren have some inspiring stories about you?
There are leaders who don’t bother about it too. Their inspiration often comes from the mirage of enduring legacy, especially as a leader, at corporate or elsewhere.
There are great masters who walked on earth who touched thousands and millions, there are some who kept their sphere of influence very local. They were not chasing numbers!
Some have been lucky to have some great followers in a Swami Vivekananda, Paramahamsa Yogananda, and Adi Shankara. You have one such follower, then you don’t need anyone else.
Leadership is about creating more leaders.
That is the #1 job of a leader. Nurture talent, at all levels. Make yourself irrelevant. Coach leaders so that they feel belonged. Delegate, not dump. Command and control is not even ‘leadership’ in the current consciousness. Any leader who thinks s/he can lead with an iron hand, corporate to countries, is living in a fool’s paradise. They have destroyed their legacy already, also their systems (corporate to governments). As such ‘I don’t care legacy’ mentality can work only at a holistic level, purely from spiritual quotient (SQ). Selfless, not ego-based control.
Control is bad karma!
The real Masters create more Masters, not followers – Osho
They start as followers, but they move into the consciousness of a Master, with the help of their Masters.
Leadership was never easy. With a pandemic and lockdown, it has only become more challenging. It also throws up new opportunities.
Happy Leading!
